Specifications:
TV Tuner | Philips, Temic, LG NTSC TV tuners Philips, TEMic, PAL and multistandard PAL/Secam tuners |
Audio Decoder | Conexant Mako CX2584X |
Video Decoder | Conexant Mako CX2584X |
MPEG Encoder and PCI Bus Interface | Conexant CX23416 chip |
Memory | 512 K × 32 × 8 |
PCI Bus | The PCI interface and MPEG encoder uses the Conexant CX23416 chip. The encoder channel uses a DMA controller that is used to bus master data to the host. For control purposes, the CX23416 can act as an I²C master to control the Tuner, Video Decoder and Audio processor. Additionally, various board control functions will be provided by some general-purpose I/O (GPIO) ports on the CX23416. |
TV Tuner | The TV tuner section consists of a programmable tuner module and a stereo decoder circuit. These parts are I²C slave devices, programmed using transactions created by the Conexant CX23416 chip acting as an I²C bus master. The programmable tuner module can be any member of the Philips FI12xx MK2, FM12xx MK2 series and MK3 tuner or a short can Temic equivalent. |
Audio Decoder | The stereo decoder circuit uses the Conexant Mako CX2584X. The analog audio output, or audio from the front panel and rear panel left and right audio inputs, is sampled by a WM8775 stereo ADC at 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, or 48 kHz rate, and is routed to the Conexant Mako chip as an I²S serial audio stream. |
Video Decoder | The Conexant Mako CX2584X video decoder uses an advanced chroma filter to minimize video artifacts. This device outputs a CCIR656 digital video stream to the Conexant CX23416 chip MPEG video encoder. |
MPEG Encoder | The CX23416 chip also operates as an MPEG audio and video encoder, in addition to its use as a PCI bus master controller and DMA engine. The CX23416 chip encodes MPEG1 System Stream at resolutions up to 352 × 240 (NTSC), 352 × 288 (PAL/SECAM), 500 KB-6 MB. It encodes MPEG2 Program Streams up to 720 × 480(NTSC), 720 × 576 (PAL/SECAM) at data rates of 500 KB to 12 MB. Audio encoding is done using MPEG1 Layer 2-32/44.1/48 KHz sampling rates, 16-bit stereo, 192/224/256/384 KB data rates. |
Power Requirements | 5 volts (V) at 320 milliamperes (mA) 3.3 V at 1,200 mA 12 VDC at 350 mA |
Environmental Conditions | Ambient temperature: 0° C to 35° C Humidity: 0% to 90% non-condensing |
